Infobox for a composition — a song or a tune — on a page in the Song: namespace. See PickiPedia:Compositions.

Deliberately small, like {{Record}}. It holds what other pages need to query and what a reader needs to get from here to whoever knows more. It grows parameters when pages demand them, not before.

Usage

{{Song
|composer     = Justin Myles Holmes
|also         = Barlow's, Barlows Jig
}}

{{Song
|traditional  = yes
|roud         = 3339
|also         = Garfield's Blackberry Blossom
}}

Parameters

  • composer – who wrote it, linked. Leave it out rather than guessing.
  • traditional – yes when the composition is carried by a tradition rather than credited to somebody. Recorded as Is traditional, not written into the page's title.
  • roud – its Roud number, where the index covers it. An index number is a claim somebody else already checked, and it is what a reader follows to a fuller account than this wiki will carry for a while.
  • also – other names it goes by, comma-separated. Each is recorded as Has alternate name, which is how an importer resolves a setlist that calls this tune something else. Make redirects too: a property is for machines, a redirect is for the reader who typed the other name.
  • display – shown name, if it should differ from the page title.

What a song page records beyond this

Its recordings, one {{Studio version}} per studio cut. Those are written by the import pipeline into a marked block; everything above is written by people.

Naming

The plain common name. Not the tradition, not the composer, not the year — see PickiPedia:Compositions#Naming. Where two unrelated compositions share a name, the plain title becomes a disambiguation page.
