Recurring events

The query side of Template:Recurring event. Embeds a live list of the jams, song circles and open mics that match whatever filter you give it — one venue's standing nights on its own page, a whole scene's week on the scene page, or every Thursday in the state.

Usage

{{Recurring events}} everything at this venue (uses the page title)
{{Recurring events|venue=The Station Inn}} one venue, named explicitly
{{Recurring events|scene=Black Hills}} a scene's whole week
{{Recurring events|city=Rapid City}} one town
{{Recurring events|weekday=Thursday}} everywhere, one night
{{Recurring events|type=Jam|limit=25}} jams only, more of them
{{Recurring events|scene=Black Hills|type=Jam|heading=Jams in the Hills}}

Parameters

  • venue - Restrict to one venue. Must match the venue's page title.
  • scene - Restrict to one scene.
  • city - Restrict to one town.
  • weekday - Restrict to one day. Spelled out and singular.
  • type - Restrict to one kind of event: Jam, Song circle, Open mic.
  • limit - How many to show. Defaults to 20.
  • heading - Optional heading rendered above the list.

With no parameters at all it lists the events at the venue whose page it sits on, which is the case it exists for.

Notes

Rows sort by Has weekday number and then by start time, so the list reads as a week rather than as an alphabet.

Times appear in the 24-hour form they are stored in. In a column of a dozen rows that is the legible choice — 18:30 and 19:00 line up, 6:30 pm and 7:00 pm do not — and the event's own page renders them the friendly way.

An event only appears here if its page uses Template:Recurring event or Template:Jam. A jam written up in prose alone is invisible to every query on this wiki, which is the single best reason to use the template.
