44th Bday Cicada Jam
The 44th Bday Cicada Jam was a house jam held at Justin Holmes's house on 1 May 2026, for his 44th birthday. Three sets were recorded and published in full to delivery-kid, and are embedded below.
By happy accident the jam fell on the day Ethereum crossed block 25,000,000 — that block carries the timestamp 2026-05-01T12:09:23Z. An evening set would land somewhere around block 25,002,300.
The recordings are among the first published through the rebuilt video encoding pipeline — encoded locally in royalty-free AV1 and Opus, pinned to IPFS, and seeded over BitTorrent.

The recordings were mixed and uploaded over the following months; the file timestamps on each Release reflect when they were exported, not when they were played.
Playback
All three are encoded in AV1 with Opus audio, both royalty-free. Apple ships no software AV1 decoder, so Safari plays these only on M3-or-newer Macs and iPhone 15 Pro or newer. Firefox and Chrome decode AV1 on any desktop, including older Intel Macs — or download a recording and play it in VLC.
