A link from a song page into Rabbithole, playing that track.

Usage

{{Listen in Rabbithole|QmS3QEZFa1c75BBa9vwNEsXkS6GBmS75Cs6RyDJBXqRx8a}}
{{Listen in Rabbithole|QmS3QEZ...|label=Hear the tin whistle come in}}

Parameters

  • 1 — the track Release CID. Not the record's CID: each track has its own Release page, and that is the one the player wants.
  • label — optional link text, for when the default reads wrong in context.

Why this is a template and not a link

Two reasons, both learned the hard way.

The player's entry point is ?track=<cid>, and a bare = written into prose on a page a bot edits destroys the line it is on — the bot-proposes wrapper takes its content as a positional parameter, so everything after the equals becomes a named one and the paragraph renders as {{{1}}}. Inside a template the equals lives in the template's own wikitext and never passes through that wrapper. The first listen link on Song:August was removed for exactly this, on 2026-10-17, and this template is the fix.

And the host is not hard-coded. {{SERVER}} resolves to whichever wiki is rendering, so the same wikitext points at production from production and at a preview wiki from a preview. A link typed by hand tends to name one host and then be wrong everywhere else.

What it does not know

Which page is about which recording. The CID is passed in by hand because nothing connects a composition to its track Release — the song page knows its release page only because somebody linked it. When that edge exists, this template should take a song and find the CID itself.
