The [[:Release:|Release]] a record is distributed as, when it is distributed first-party.[unverified]
Set on a record's encyclopedic article, pointing into the Release: namespace. 4masks has both: an article about the music, and Releases holding the bytes. Almost nothing else does.[unverified]
What this property is and is not
It records custody, not ownership. Look at what a Release page actually stores — infohash, webseeds, encodings, pinned_on — and notice that not one field concerns rights or licence. The question a Release answers is "who is keeping these bytes alive and reachable", which is an operational fact with a cost attached. A record we merely know about imposes no obligation on us; a record we distribute does.[unverified]

Naming
Not Has release — the Has prefix is an RDF-ism this wiki abandoned long ago. Not Released as, which implies a label did the releasing and reads wrong for anything reissued or archival. Distributed as says the thing that is true.[unverified]
Distinct from Cites release, which is a citation, not a custody relation.[unverified]
