Cryptograss:Magenta app

The Moods at magenta.cryptograss.live/moods/ can be installed as an app. The installed app is the same web page, opened in its own window from your home screen, launcher or dock, with no browser bar around it. There's nothing to download from an app store.^[unverified]

Install it

iPhone / iPad

1. Open https://magenta.cryptograss.live/moods/ in Safari.^[unverified]
2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up).^[unverified]
3. Tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.^[unverified]
4. Then sign the app in, as described below. Don't skip this step: on iOS, the app doesn't share Safari's sign-in.^[unverified]

Android

1. Open https://magenta.cryptograss.live/moods/ in Chrome.^[unverified]
2. Tap the ⋮ menu, then Install app (on some phones it's Add to Home screen).^[unverified]
3. Once it's installed, magenta shows up in Android's share sheet. You can share a link, text, a picture, a video or a recording from another app straight into a Mood. The app then asks you which Mood to send it to, and nothing is posted until you send it.^[unverified]

Desktop (Linux, Windows, macOS)

• Chrome or Edge: open the Moods page and click the install icon at the right end of the address bar. You can also go to the menu, then Cast, save and share → Install page as app.^[unverified]
• Safari on macOS: File → Add to Dock.^[unverified]
• Firefox can't install it. Use the page in a tab, or install it from Chrome or Edge.^[unverified]

Sign the app in

Reading needs no sign-in. Writing does. An installed app can keep its sign-in apart from the browser's, which always happens on iOS. If the app says Reading only, sign it in with one of these:^[unverified]

• SSH key (this is how you wake agents and run Moods): on a computer that has your key, run ./magenta.sh login from your magenta folder. It prints a one-time sign-in link and a QR code, and the link is good for 15 minutes.^[unverified]
  • Don't scan the QR code on a phone: that opens the browser, not the app. Copy the link to your phone instead, then in the app open the menu at the top right (read-only ▾). Paste the link into Have a sign-in link? Paste it here and tap Go.^[unverified]
• PickiPedia account: tap Sign in with PickiPedia. This lets you chat and @mention people, but an @mention of an agent from this sign-in wakes nobody.^[unverified]

./magenta.sh hunter is a different command. It opens a terminal in your container on hunter and doesn't sign anything in.^[unverified]

Good to know

• Links in a message open in your browser, so the app's own window stays in the Mood.^[unverified]
• Where the system supports it, the app's icon shows how many messages are new.^[unverified]
• The app stores nothing offline. Without a connection, it can't load.^[unverified]
