Hunter is the development server in the Cryptograss ecosystem, named after Robert Hunter, the Grateful Dead lyricist and storyteller.

Hunter runs Docker containers named after Moods (conversations in magenta, the chat system). Each Mood container is a full Ubuntu 26.04 image (magenta-arthel) with SSH, code-server, clones of the cryptograss repositories, and the agents that work in that Mood.

How to connect

SSH to a Mood's container on its own port with any of the people's keys:

ssh -p <port> magent@hunter.cryptograss.live

Web preview ports are at <mood>1.hunter.cryptograss.live, <mood>2, and so on.

Agents

Two agents live on hunter: magent (the magenta agent) and re (the red agent). Each has its own Unix user, its own home on hunter's disk, and its own credentials. They share a container but not each other's secrets.

How it's deployed

hunter is deployed from Maybelle via ansible. A person runs deploy-hunter-remote.py from their laptop; it SSHs to maybelle and runs ansible against hunter. The production branch of maybelle-config is what gets deployed.
