Who We Are in the Bluegrass Community

We help pickers sound great with our handcrafted guitars made in Sisters, Oregon.[unverified]

How We Do It

We make around a 100 custom ordered guitars a year with an exceptionally talented crew of builders. We take time and care on each guitar from picking your guitar wood, hand carving the braces and graduating each top. Building the body and necks with precision and skill. Design and create custom inlay when requested that is outstanding. Then finish each guitar with our nitro cellulose lacquer process. The guitars final stage is with our set up crew who put the body and neck together ultimately allowing it to sing it's unique song.[unverified]

  • The Sound: tone all across the strings that sing and resonate with each note.[unverified]
  • The Playability: ease to the touch, stay in tune and be able to play for hours and hours![unverified]
  • The Look: top notch fit and finish that strives towards perfection.[unverified]
  • The Feel: lightness of build and liveliness of our tops.[unverified]

Why We Care

Music inspires us - all of us in someway or another and we are proud to be a part of the process of making music. We want to provide a piece of art that is playable for years to come and makes you happy when you pick it up. Something special to pass on to your family or friends. An instrument that was build with grace, care, heart and hope. We treat every customer with kindness and understanding just like we ask in return. We are human, not machines making these instrument. We want to put out a positive vibration that reverberates from one group of players to another and from one audience to the next.[unverified]

Who Has Helped Us Spread The Word

Well that is a great question!! So many people, players and listeners out there have spread the word making our small company have a big reputation. We are proud of that fact every day. Billy Strings could not have been more amazing to come to our shop many moons ago when Preston was alive and well and tickled to have a hot young flatpicker love the sound of his Thompson. Probably the biggest smile I had ever seen on Preston's face was when Billy picked up his guitar. Thank you Billy for your support and amazing music you share with so many! the list goes from there back into Preston's history to Peter Rowan. This legendary musician was the connector for me to Thompson guitars and I will be forever grateful. Peter bought a 000-12BA from Preston in the 1980's and is still connected to our company today, we are so proud. We recently made a Peter Rowan Signature model with a few build spots available.[unverified]
