Their first name was The Panther Caps.  Next they became Water Tower Bucket Boys.  Soon they kicked the bucket to become Water Tower Stringband. Then back to Bucket Boys. Eventually simplifying to Water Tower in 2012 to symbolize their move to punk rock bluegrass. Their first release came in 2020.  Foghorn used to call water tower "Mist Whistle", "Foghorn Junior" and "Water Babies".
