It seems fairly obvious that we are going to want custom namespaces for certain things.

The obvious models that we are going to want to query as structured data are:

  • Songs / Tunes
  • Bands / Musicians
  • Shows
  • Records
  • Instruments (actual individual instruments, like Jake's Martin, Billy's Thompson(s), etc)

...I'm not totally certain which of these warrant their own namespace, but to me, the two that most obvious do are songs/tunes and instruments. Songs/tunes (which I think we can safely just call "Song:" without much controversy) because we so much of the other structured data arises from them (after all, they are the absolute core of our data model), and instruments because they are unambiguously discrete by nature (ie, say what you will about whether Rueben's Train is a Train 45 variant, nobody can dispute that Thompson serial #123xyz is in fact a single discrete object).

So I think it makes sense to start with songs, so that we're not left with the task of cleaning up articles in the main namespace later - I think songs are inevitably going to start being created very soon.

I'm looking at the following resources to make sure we create and populate this name space in a forward-looking way:

In particular, I think we're going to want to structure the data on the Song namespace to match the logic that we already use on arthel, which means matching the properties found in our existing song collection.
